Early years

Edward was born in April 1817 at Great Ellingham, Norfolk to parents Robert and Anne. He was baptised on 25 May 1817 at Great Ellingham. Edward was converted aged 17 and soon became a local preacher.

Ministry

Edward did a considerable share of chapel building:

  • Newton and Sudbury in the Hadleigh circuit;
  • Witten, Burgh, Neatishead, Dilham and Storey in the North Walsham circuit;
  • Bintry in the Briston circuit.

Edward was also involved in the purchase of Bradfield, Hindolveston and Great Ellingham chapels.

His obituary records that he loved to preach the Gospel, and he was emphatically a Gospel preacher, a workman who need not be ashamed.

He died on 1 August 1892 at Wymondham, Norfolk.
