Simons, Mary (1772-1836)

Died, Sep. 1, 1836, at Tower End, Norfolk, Lynn circuit, Mary Simons, aged sixty-four years.  She had been a member about fifteen years.  Previous to her conversion, she sat under a regular ministry, but apparently without profit.

Sister Moore (assistant leader at Tower End), invited her to class; and she earnestly sought, and obtained redemption in the blood of Jesus.

Mary then became zealous to do good; and would sometimes stand up in the midst of the people, at the conclusion of the public services, and declare what God had done for her soul.

During her last illness the assistant leader, in her frequent visits, always found the aged Mary happy in God; and she would sometimes say, “My cross is heavy, but Jesus is sweet.”  On one occasion, when asked if she lay happy, she replied, “Yes.”  And in her last moments she said, “Jesus has eased me now – Jesus has eased me now.”
