Mackley, Mary (1790-1837)

Died in Redmile in Bottesford circuit, March 17,1837, aged forty-seven, Mary Mackley.  She had been a member of our society about six years.  Her conversion to God was clear.  She was uniformly devoted to Him, and in no instance was known to dishonour the cause, but was a useful member to the last.  I have seen her at times visit from house to house to invite her neighbours to attend the preaching, and not in vain; for she was much esteemed and beloved by those who did not profess religion; and in attending the means of grace, she was remarkably punctual.

Towards the close of life her light shone with greater lustre.  She laboured to improve every opportunity to the honour of God, and the benefit of her soul.  The preachers and others found it a privilege to visit her.  She knew how to sympathise with those who were in trouble; and her loss is felt.  Her last affliction was short but severe; and in the midst of it she said, “I am safe.”
