The Primitive Methodist magazine of June 1893 page 379 tells us that the memorial stones for a new Primitive Methodist chapel at Cuddington in the Crowle circuit were laid in 1893. The society had “patiently waited” for a long time and over half the cost had already been raised.
I had the technical difficulty that I could not place Cuddington. There are villages called Cuddington in at least Cheshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey, but Crowle is on the Lincolnshire / Yorkshire border, not too far from Doncaster. It turns out to be a typographical error for Luddington – in the Crowle circuit, with the same opening date and with a similar story.
