Keith Guyler’s notes say that Yafforth Primitive Methodists took over an existing United Methodist chapel which had been erected in 1868.

British History Online records it as a Free Methodist chapel in 1914, although three different strands of Methodism (the New Connexion, Bible Christians and United Methodist Free Churches)  came together in 1907, forming the United Methodist Church..

Yafforth Methodist chapel closed in 1966.
