  • I have only recently come across the ‘Original Methodists’ in some returns to the Religious Census of 1851. At first I assumed they were Wesleyans, and then discovered from this article that they were ‘break-away’ Primitives. There is much more information in a series of eight articles by Donald M. Grundy in volume 36 of the Proceedings of the Wesley Historical Society, 1966-1968.
