Keith Guyler 1993

Tarrant Keyneston is a village east of Blandford Forum.  Tarrant Keyneston Primitive Methodist chapel was opened in 1896 and closed in the 1960s.

By the time of his photograph in 1993, Keith Guyler describes it as derelict. On Google Street View in 2011 it is in the process of being converted into a house.

  • We are the current owners of Chapelcombe house and we are very interested in finding out as much as possible about the chapel. We have extensive photographs of the restoration undertaken by the previous owners. We also have the original bible and a signed floorboard by the joiner and carpenter from 1896 on display in our vestibule.
We do have further improvements to make to the house and are hoping to make these more sympathetic to the original structure/design as a place of worship.

  • I noticed when I drove past today that it is now called Chapelcombe House and looks nice and smart..
