Stainton le Vale Primitive Methodist Chapel, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire Archives, Lincoln has the following records relating to this chapel:

Ref. MLI87117: Former Primitive Methodist Chapel (now the village hall), Stainton le Vale, built 1894. It is constructed of corrugated iron on a brick base, with a corrugated asbestos roof, with a porch with decorative wooden eaves and finial. There are three windows in the side elavations, with two glazing lights per window.

  • The January 1894 Primitive Methodist magazine (page 77) records that a new chapel has been opened at Staniton (sic) in the Market Rasen station. There is no place called Staniton that I can find; it is a typo for Stainton. Stainton appears as a preaching place on the 1860 Market Rasen preaching plan.

    The society had been meeting in a cottage for forty years. Encouragingly, Rev W Hansen, the local vicar, took the chair at the public meeting.
