Silpho Primitive Methodist Chapel

Date of building is unknown

Silpho Chapel Plaque

Silpho is a tiny village in North Yorkshire. It is within the National Park. The Primitive Methodist Chapel is stone built with an extension to the rear. There are stained glass windows either side of the front porch.  There is little information on the building. No date for closure. At one time it was used as an Outdoor Education Centre for children.

It has been a dwelling for at least 20 years and now has 5 acres of land. This was purchased by a previous owner

  • I stayed here on a school trip for a week, what a wonderful time we had, still have great memories of it, think it was in 1979, still go for trips out to see it, we were not disadvantaged kids

  • The educational trips were NOT for disadvantaged children. I think you need to correct your article.
The school trips organised were for children from perfectly ordinary and un disadvantaged backgrounds. I should know as I was one of them. Janice Sadler
