Primitive Methodist Magazine 1905/517

The first Primitive Methodist chapel in St Sepulchre Street was built in 1821. There is an account of the opening in the Primitive Methodist magazine written by John Abey who preached at the opening. This took place on May 13th 1821. They gained 10 members on the opening Sunday and a further 4 on the following Tuesday.

In 1841 the chapel was enlarged so it could hold up to 600 members.  In 1865, Joseph Wright, the Hull architect re-built it to hold congregations of over 1,000 people.

It was demolished in 1965 and the site was used for housing.
