Rotherwick Primitive Methodist chapel, Hampshire
Keith Guyler 1989
Rotherwick was on the preaching plan of the Mitcheldever Circuit in 1834-5, but not permanently. It features on all the Primitive Methodist plans I have seen from after the 1853 name-change to Basingstoke Circuit (1870, 1883 and 1912), and in the Methodist Church Buildings statistical returns of 1940.
That is all I know about the Rotherwick society, but here is a photograph of me arriving to preach there in 1965 – happily allowed to arrive in my father’s car, having passed the driving test in January that year!
