Editor’s note: the pictures from the Conference Handbooks have been added to Richard Jennings’ page.

The chapel dates from 1898.  On this page you can see a Memento of the Foundation Stone Ceremony.  There are birth and baptism records up until 1977, soon after which the chapel was closed and demolished.

The Primitive Methodist magazine of March 1898 contains a notice of the intention to close the chapel and replace with a new chapel located where the people have gone to. It would cost £12,000, most of which they expected to have raised.

  • In fact the 1899 Primitive Methodist magazine tells us it cost “not much short of £14,000”.

    Budgeting was difficult then too!
