Barlow (Mrs)

of Lavender Hill

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

Mrs. BARLOW was for many years a consistent member of our Church at Grayshott Road, Lavender Hill. Her interest in our Church was strong and sincere. This was made manifest in her constant attendance on the means of grace and by her generous contributions to its funds. Her voice was heard in the Sunday afternoon class meeting, and in the prayer meeting on the Sunday evening. She was a woman of cheerful spirit with whom it did one good to meet and converse. Though having to work hard for a living she managed to make time and opportunity for the purpose of visiting the sad and sinful and “stairs to sin and famine known,” “Sang with the music of her feet.” Often, too, though frail and feeble, she was heard speaking a word of exhortation at the open-air meeting. She had a passion for the salvation of souls. Her whole life was consecrated to the service of Him Who loved her and gave Himself for her. His will was her law, and it she found her highest delight. Her last prayers were for her children and Church. Thus worn and weary she passed to her everlasting rest in February, 1903, at the comparatively early age of 57.
