John, Mary

of Pembrokeshire

Transcription of Obituary in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by Joseph J. Hodson

The Angel of Death visited our Pembroke Dock Station and removed Mary John on March 7th. She was one of the founders of the Summerhill Church in the year 1879. Previous to the last date the little Primitive Methodist Society met in the cottage of the late Mrs. Margaret Hancock, and also Thomas Hancock, her son, one of the founders of the church. Mrs. John leaves four sons to mourn her loss, two of whom, still living in the neighbourhood, are members of the same church. The funeral took place on Sunday, March 12th. A short service was conducted at the house by the Rev. J.J. Hodson. Afterwards the procession wended its Way to the churchyard of Amroth, the place of interment. Except for the reading of the lesson by Mr. Hodson the ceremony throughout was impressively performed by the Vicar, the Rev. J.E. Jones.

Family

Based on the information in the obituary, I have been unable to unambiguously identify Mary in census returns. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
