Mary Elizabeth Sinclair

MARY was ill when she was quite young and it was thought that she would die but she recovered and lived until she was ten however she was so much afflicted that she often could not attend her Sunday School. However, ‘When quite a child she was in the habit of retiring privately into a room, to pour out her soul to God in prayer.’ Her sisters listened in on her prayers and one day found her to be most joyful, Mary emerged saying “ I have found the blessing of conversion today; I thought I was converted before, but now I know I am.”

On finding out about her last illness Mary said, “I am glad; I shall soon see Jesus now.” On seeing her mother weeping Mary said, “Mother, I am going to glory; let that comfort you. It is no trial for me to part with you, for we shall meet again, if you only be good, read your Bible, and go to the chapel.” She expressly gave instructions that her funeral was to be teetotal. There was no doubt that her happy spirit was now with Jesus.
