Robson, John Johnson (1847-1926)

Transcription of Magazine ‘Sketch’

The Circuit Chancellor of the Newcastle-upon-Tyne I. is in many ways an ideal official. He is one of a trio of brothers who have and are rendering invaluable service in the Central Church, and who take a deep interest in all its affairs. Mr. Robson has been connected with our Church from boyhood. A self-made and successful business man, he has not suffered from “the destruction that wasteth at noonday.”

Of a quiet, retiring disposition, unobtrusive in manner, sane in judgement, generous of heart, he is in sympathy with all that makes for progress whether in the church, or civic and national life. Our friend is a member of that worthy band who by consistent service and sterling character render invaluable service to our church. Given length of days his best service is yet to be.

  • A John Johnson-Robson married Jane Sinclair Basketter, who is buried in Port Elizabeth S.A., but was from Orkney.  Is there any connection to this John’s family?
