Early years

Frederick was born in 1873 at Farnhill, near Keighley, Yorkshire, to parents John Green Mosley and Mary. John was a cotton warp dresser (1881).

As a youth, Frederick worked as a worsted weaver. Before offering for the Primitive Methodist Ministry he served as a Lay Agent in Masham.

Ministry

His obituary records that In every place his effective preaching and sympathetic pastoral work were greatly appreciated. He was never robust, and his sensitive preaching made such a strain upon his nervous energy and physical strength that he was obliged to relinquish the work he loved and to retire early from the active Ministry. On medical advice he sought an outdoor life, settled in Knaresborough, and for some years was engaged in horticulture.

He became Society Steward, Trustee, Treasurer, and indeed the chief pillar of Church of which he had been the minister. He never ceased to serve, as he was physically able, both within the Church and without. He became a governor of the King James’ Grammar School, and for some time was its chairman. He was greatly respected for the simplicity and integrity of his character as well as for his sound judgement. To many he was a wise counsellor and guide. Possessing little of this world’s goods, he was yet rich towards God and generous towards others in thought and deed.

The last years of his life brought him much weakness and pain yet he never complained. Guided by his faith he walked with fortitude and did not faint.

Family

Frederick married Rose Eva Cope (abt 1871-1960) in the summer of 1901 in the West Bromwich Registration District, Staffordshire.

Frederick died on 12 September 1959 at Knaresborough, Yorkshire.
