Banks, Frederic (1880-1903)

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

Frederic, son of the late Mr. George Banks, and nephew of the Revs. George Newman and Richard Wycherley, was born at Stafford on December 13th, 1880, and died in Glasgow, on February 28th. Being the son of a pious parentage and brought up in the atmosphere of a godly home, he early in life yielded himself to the service of Jesus Christ. Although he was of a retiring disposition he was actively engaged as a Sunday School teacher, and took an active part in the varied work of the Christian Endeavour Society. By his consistency of character he allowed his light to shine and his influence to be felt. Only a short time before his death he removed to Glasgow, where he identified himself with the Whiteinch Circuit. His promise for usefulness in the church of his fathers was cut short by his unexpected death. During his brief illness he manifested exemplary patience, and made a good confession of faith in Christ. In early manhood he was called by the Master to the higher service of heaven. His mortal remains were laid to rest in the Western Necropolis, in the presence of sympathetic relatives and friends.
