Calton Primitive Methodist chapel, York Circuit

The Primitive Methodist for February 1857 contains an account by Robert Smith of the opening of Calton Primitive Methodist chapel.  Calton was a small village some nine miles east of York. In 1850 it was missioned by brothers J Dodsworth and W Bennett and a society formed. A small freehold cottage was bought in summer of 1856 and the foundation stone for the chapel was laid on September 17th 1856  by brother J Meek, then Lord Mayor of York.  He also contributed £5.

It was opened on November 7th, 9th and 12th by bothers W Bennet of Easingwold, J Ratcliffe of Pocklington and R Tanfield of Malton. The overall cost was £100 of which half had been raised.

I cannot find the chapel on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map.
