Alpraham: Return from the Primitive Methodist preaching place in the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship
transcribed by David Tonks

This is Alpraham Central PM Church. The manse was on the extreme left. It was part of the Tarporley (Alpraham) PM Circuit and still part of that circuit when it merged in 1957 with the Tarporley & Kelsall Circuit.

  • I’ve added the return for Alpraham to the Census of Places of Public Religious Worship in 1851. They met in the house of George Woolrich.

  • I lived in the Manse, in the 1970s. I remember it being very cold, but beautiful, with its colourful stained glass gable end window (its now clear glass, don’t know why), and coloured tiled hall floor.
