Page 99 of “Chapels in the Valley” by D.Ben Rees (Ffynnon Press, 1975) gives a brief history (including a photograph) of Bethesda Primitive Methodist chapel, Monk Street, Aberdare, built in 1863 – although the Primitives were present from at least as early as the 1840s. The chapel became Pentecostal in 1942, but has since been demolished.

    ABERDARE
The Primitive Methodists of this town, who for some time past have been holding their services in the Temperance-hall, have at last realised what has long been desired, viz., a very beautiful and commodious connexional chapel. Some five months since Mr. John Lambert, of Bristol, was applied to, who very kindly prepared the plans and specifications. The building was forthwith commenced, and favourably progressed to completion. The opening services were commenced on Thursday, December 17, when two sermons were preached by the Rev. R Parks, of Asbby-de-la-Zouch. On Sunday, the 20tb, the Rev. R. Parks preached morning and evening, and the Rev. D. Price in the afternoon preached a sermon in Welsh. On Monday, the 21st, Mr. Parks delivered an eloquent lecture on “Christianity adapted to man’s physical well-being”. On Christmas Day a sermon was preached at two p.m., by Mr. John Lambert, of Bristol at four p.m., a tea meeting was held in the Tabernacle schoolroom (kindly lent), and after tea the friends adjourned to the chapel, where a public meeting was held. The chair was taken by G. Smart, Esq., of Cardiff; and addresses were delivered by the Revs. G. Johnson, J. Taylor, J. E. Hargreves; George Wilkinson, Esq. (Cwmpennon), and Mr. J. Lambert.

Note (Rev) John Lambert also drew the original plans for Severn Road Primitive Methodist Chapel in Cardiff.

EBBW VALE. Three sermons were delivered in the Primitive Methodist Chapel of these works, on behalf of the trust fund, last Sunday. The Revs. John Warner and John Lambert officiated, and the proceeds of the collection were further assisted by a tea party held in the chapel next day.

I assume the works was the Victoria Ironworks but I am uncertain where the chapel was.
