Yorkshire

The Census of Religious Worship taken in 1851 shows that Primitive Methodism was strongest in four places, all on the eastern side of Yorkshire: Patrington and Driffield in the East Riding, Pickering in the North Riding, and Goole in the West Riding. This was the area close to the coast up which William Clowes and the early missionaries had worked.
